wikiCommons
Locals are watching closely for the annaul Monarch butterfly migration. Some years bring thousands of butterflies, but last year saw very few.

WCAI News Director Sean Corcoran hosts a discussion about the top local news stories of the week. Joining him are Anne Brennan of the Cape Cod Times; Jim DeArruda at the New Bedford Standard-Times; Tim Wood of the Cape Cod Chronicle; Joshua Balling of the Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror; and Nelson Sigelman of the Martha's Vineyard Times.

Among the stories they discuss: The Falmouth ZBA temporarily shuts down a controversial wind turbine in town; the EPA approves a plan to improve Cape Cod's water quality; Barnstable is working to help out the homeless student population; Nantucket residents are on the watch for the annual Monarch butterfly migration; Truro considering a solar farm at the town's capped landfill; the iconic New England cottontail rabbit rebounds; local boards say no to a new, 110-room hotel in Falmouth, but the developer may appeal; and citizens are trying to find ways to stop the spraying of herbicides under power lines.
