Drug Story Theater is a performance dramatizing the path from substance use to addiction. The cast of is made up of teens in recovery, and the target audience is middle and high school students. In this project, we find an intersection of addiction treatment and addiction prevention.
On The Point, we talk with the founder of the theater, Dr. Joseph Shrand, a psychiatrist at an addiction treatment center for adolescents, instructor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, and child psychiatrist on the medical staff of Massachusetts General Hospital. Nicole Condon-McCombe, scriptwriter and co-director of the Drug Story Theater, also joins the discussion. Mindy Todd hosts. A performance will take place at the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford on February 9th.
