With suicide rates for teens on Cape Cod and the Islands more than double than the state average, and that of adults 1 and 1/2 times higher, suicide prevention has become a public health priority. Organizations around our region are working to raise awareness about the prevalence of suicide and resources available to those impacted by it. On The Point, Mindy Todd sits down with Stephanie Kelley, executive director of the Samaritans on Cape Cod and the Islands, and Kathleen Shine- O'Brien, mental health counselor and support group facilitator. Next week is National Suicide Prevention Week, and you can find more information about events and resources here at the Cape and Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition.
