Opioid Addiction Treatment

The number of people with opioid use disorders is on the rise. Access to medicated assisted treatment, which is proven effective, is limited by the number of practitioners certified to prescribe. We discuss why there are so few prescribers, how to increase treatment capacity, and some of the different medicated assisted treatment options.

Guests on the program are as follows: Cindy Thomas, Professor and Associate Dean for Research at the Brandeis University Heller Graduate School, and member of theOpioid Policy Research Collaborative. Dr. Lisa Taylor, internist, and certified prescriber for Opioid Addiction Treatment Medication. Yvonne Nickerson, Licensed Social Worker and the Addictions Program Manager at Community Health Center of Cape Cod.
