New Flood Zones and Hurricane Preparedness

This summer FEMA released preliminary flood insurance rate maps that show some Cape towns will see their flood risk zones increase significantly. On The Point, Mindy Todd talks with Kerry Bogdan, FEMA Senior Engineer and Brian Caufield, Coastal Engineer about how they came up with the new maps, and Dan Fortier, Dennis Town Planner about what the new flood zones mean for some homeowners.
Later in the hour we hear about this year’s hurricane season: what is the forecast and what are some steps we should take to be prepared in any natural disaster, with Phil Burt, Meteorologist of Cape Cod Weather.net, and Kevin Morley, Information Officer at Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee.
