Maintaining Right of Way Beneath Power Lines

cctrails.org

State law mandates that Eversource keep the area beneath the power lines clear. Some Cape and Islands residents are concerned that not enough is known about the adverse effects of the herbicides being proposed, and that these chemicals could find their way into our drinking water. On The Point, we discuss what we know and don’t know about the chemicals, and the pros and cons of different methods to control vegetative growth beneath the power lines.

Guests on the program are as follows: Laurel Schaider, Research Scientist at Silent Spring Institute.

Randy Prostak, UMass Extension Weed Specialist. Laura Kelly of Protect Our Cape Cod Aquifer,

William Hayes, Senior Transmission Arborist with Eversource.  Massachusetts State Sen. Julian Cyr.
