Living With and Treating Parkinson’s Disease Today

parkinsoncapecod.org

Parkinson’s is a chronic and progressive disease for which there is still no known cure. But research indicates that exercise and a positive mental attitude can help reduce the symptoms. On The Point, we discuss living with and treating Parkinson's, and we share information about various supports and services for patients with Parkinson's and their caregivers.

Guests in The Point studio are Dr. David Lowell, neurologist and chief medical officer at Spaulding Cape Cod and director of the Parkinson’s Center for Comprehensive Care; Dr. John Allen, a health psychologist who developed and runs the Healthy Mindset Program, helping patients and families cope with the impacts of Parkinson’s from a psychological and quality of life perspective; Heather Merrill, a physical therapist at the Spaulding outpatient center in Orleans; and Joyce Ginouves, founder of the  Parkinson’s Support Network of Cape Cod that provides support, education, and wellness programs for patients and families.
