Getting Kids Back in Touch with Nature

J. J.

Recent research indicates that experiences in nature are essential for healthy growth, and benefit kids’ cognitive, emotional, and social development. The average North American child spends about seven hours a day looking at screens, and mere minutes engaged in unstructured play outdoors, a dramatic transformation within the past generation. On The Point, Mindy Todd discusses the issue Scott Sampson, author of a new book titled How toRaise a Wild Child, the Art and Science of Falling in Love with Nature.
