Examining Recent Trends in Cancer Screening Practices

On The Point, a discussion about screening for cancer. Prostate cancer and breast cancer are the most common cancers in men and women. Yet the US Preventative Services Task Force has recommended against routine screening for prostate cancer. They also increased the age when women should begin receiving screening mammograms for breast cancer. Host Mindy Todd talks with physicians and public health professionals about screenings for breast and prostate cancer, some of the treatment options, and how the recommendations influence the care patients receive. Guests on the program are  Dr. Keith Bleiler, urologist, Dr. Peter Hopewood, a specialist in the surgical treatment of cancers, and Ngina Lythcott, breast cancer survivor and research activist, and the Breast Cancer Liaison for the Black Women's Health Imperative.
