Events to Honor the Troops Highlight Memorial Day Weekend

CapeCodOnline

Memorial Day weekend brings parades and other observances across the Cape and Islands, many of these on Monday. Starting on Sunday, however, will be "Troops in the Spotlight." This 24-hour observance is an annual event, now in its 11th year. It takes over part of the parking lot at Kmart Plaza in Hyannis. Troops in the Spotlight honors the men and women who serve in the armed forces with a 24-hour honor guard, collections for care packages, and more.

Birdhouses are the centerpiece of an unusual art fundraiser, now in its eighth year, at WellfleetPreservation Hall on Saturday.

The Woods Hole Film Festival doesn’t start until July, but it’s kicking off a new Falmouth Film monthly series Saturday night with a sneak preview of a movie filmed on Nantucket.

Broadway and TV celebrities are going to be flocking to Provincetown this summer and it starts Sunday night withRosie O’Donnell at Town Hall.

Steve Junker and Kathi Scrizzi Driscoll discuss upcoming events each Wednesday on All Things Considered. This week's conversation is posted in the audio above - give it a listen.
