Conservation Leaders Fight to Protect Our Open Space from Development Sprawl

J.J.

Purchasing land for conservation on the Cape, South Coast and Islands is expensive but important. Open space isn’t just for recreation and protecting habitats; in light of climate change, wastewater management challenges and the importance of protecting drinking water, many believe the value far exceeds the expense. On The Point, we discuss three parcels of land Cape conservation leaders hope to preserve, and the role this open space will play in the environmental and economic future of our region. Guests on the program are Jaci Barton of the Barnstable Land Trust, Wendi Buessler of Oyster Pond Environmental Trust Katherine Garafoli of the Dennis Conservation Trust, and Michael Lach, Executive Director of the Harwich Conservation Trust.
