There is a Coastal Flood Warning in Effect until 2pm today. WCAI's Heather Goldstone spoke with Weekend Edition Sunday host Alecia Orsini about Coastal Flooding concerns.
5:30pm: "A classic southern New England Cape Cod snowstorm."
Meteorologist Phil Burt of CapeCodWeather.net checks in with us in the 5 o'clock hour, assessing how the storm has tracked, and how it's likely to wrap up. The coastal flooding impact, he says, may be less than expected, as the storm moved in a little faster than predicted, accelerating the timeline of the surge, bringing it not quite as close to the high tide.
3:52 Blizzard Warning Extended to Include Cape Cod and Nantucket
It been snowing across our region since roughly 11a.m. - and now the NWS has extended its Blizzard Warning to include Cape Cod and Nantucket. Previously, only Martha's Vineyard was under a Blizzard Warning. This comes as the snowfall predictions for coastal areas have continued to rise, as the storm's track edging northward becomes more apparent. The NWS is calling for snowfall totals of 8 - 12", with northeast winds gusting to 65mph.

2pm: Snowfall Projections Moving Higher
Since this morning the trend in the forecast has been an increase in expected snowfall across the region. The storm itself now seems to be supporting that projection.
NOAA's 1:28pm projection map (above) demonstrates some of the difficulty in making this forecast. At 1:28pm the weather service is calling for 8-12" of snow across the Upper Cape and Martha's Vineyard - and yet Provincetown sees just 2-3". That means the snow gradient is extremely sharply drawn.
Winds are already gusting to 50mph on Martha's Vineyard
MEMA (Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency) is cautioning that the Vineyard may see 12-18" of snow.
