Festivals again highlight weekend events across the Cape and the Islands - and the weather looks like it will cooperate to make them memorable. Provincetown celebrates with the annual Provincetown Portuguese Festival, offering great food, music, and dance all weekend, and a Blessing of the Fleet on Sunday morning. In Truro, the Highlands Festivalon Saturday has a line-up of great music and actvities. Sandwich gets busy with its 6th annual SandwichFest honoring "the Best Sandwich in Sandwich" (what else?), and Wellfleet delights the tastebuds with Taste of Wellfleet.
But it's not all about food. Also this weekend, there's a Local Author Palooza in Osterville, plus the continuation of the Nantucket Film Festival, with celebrity panelists and and comedy roundtable.
And just in case you want to scoot low in a comfy chair in the air-conditioned dark and give yourself a delightful scare, the Chatham Orpheum Theater is screening the movie Jaws not once, but 36 times in 9 days! Whew. You will never go swimming again!
Steve Junker and Kathi Scrizzi Driscoll discuss upcoming events every Thursday on All Things Considered. Audio of this week's conversation is posted above - give it a listen.
