An Act Relative to Sex Offenders

There’s a new proposal in the Massachusetts legislature that aims to restrict where Level 2 and Level 3 Sex Offenders can loiter. It’s called an ‘Act Relative to Child Safety Zones’.

It was prompted by an incident in Yarmouth last November 2014 when a homeless Level 3 sex offender moved around on the town on a bus.

At present there is no law in the State of Massachusetts restricting where Level 2 & 3 offenders can live or go.

However, this proposed legislation follows a decision by the State's Supreme Judicial Court to reject a residency restriction in the town of Lynn, claiming it was unconstitutional.
