WCAI, the Cape, Coast and Islands NPR Station is the proud radio sponsor of Philanthropy Day on Cape Cod, now in its 18th year. It is one of the biggest events on the Cape, with over 500 attendees and participants. Philanthropy Day is an event designed to recognize philanthropic excellence in the region and provide a forum for non-profit professionals, volunteers, and organizations working locally to benefit from educational, professional growth, and networking opportunities.
WCAI’s Sarah Tribuzio, Managing Director of Development is the co-chair for the event, has served on the education planning committee for 4 years and has presented and moderated several former workshops.
WCAI’s Alecia Orsini, Traffic Coordinator and Radio Host for WCAI will be moderating and presenting “Social Marketing Successes: Leveraging Social Media for your next fundraising event”. She is a member of the Geek Girl Organization (#26), and provides training nationally in the areas of video and social media.
Early Bird Registration Ends October 17th!
Philanthropy Day begins with a breakfast plenary session with speaker Marc Pitman, "The Fundraising Coach", followed by a morning session, lunch, and Distinguished Service to Philanthropy Award presentations. Two additional afternoon sessions and a cocktail reception provide attendees with some wonderful networking opportunities, as well. More information.
Alive Inside: A Story of Music & Memory
Film and Panel Discussion

A viewing of the film and a panel discussion will follow at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors' Theatre. The event is sponsored by the Wellfleet Alzheimer's Association and the Barnstable County Human Services' SHINE Program. WCAI"s Sean Corcoran will participate on the panel. The film examines how music can dramatically impact the lives of people suffering from dementia. For information on attending the film screening, click here.
"The Long Haul: The Future of New England's Fisheries" Book Signing Event
Bourne Public Library
December 10, 2014 2pm-5pm
WCAI's own Dr. Heather Goldstone and South Coast Reporter, Brian Morris will be at the Bourne Public Library on Wednesday, December 10th for a book signing event. "The Long Haul" is the first book published by WCAI, and contains a compilation of items gathered around the award-winning radio series of the same name. Community members, experts, WCAI supporters, and staff made the project possible. Guests will enjoy the opportunity to meet book contributors from WCAI and be able to ask questions about the book. The Bourne Public Library is graciously hosting the event, and it is free to the general public.
