00000177-ba84-d5f4-a5ff-bbfc9b1a0000 Wondering what to do this weekend? Every Wednesday during All Things Considered, Steve Junker speaks with the editors of Cape Week about events happening on Cape Cod and the Islands. You can hear this week's best bets here.

Your Chance to Hoist the Statuette: Oscar Parties and More Best Bets for the Weekend

Oscar night hoopla highlights the Weekend Outlook. There's also an animated shorts festival in Wellfleet, and a new theatrical adaption of the Diary of Anne Frank.

The Academy Awards are given out in Hollywood Sunday night, and there are three big parties on the Cape and Martha’s Vineyard for people to celebrate Oscar night. There's the Red Carpet Gala at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the third annual “An Evening With Oscar” at Chatham Orpheum Theater, and the 2016 Oscars Viewing Party Martha’s Vineyard Film Center.

A different way to see movies before the Oscars on Sunday is a show of animated short films at Wellfleet Preservation Hall.

A lot of people know about or have read young Anne Frank’s diary from the Holocaust. The play opening this weekend by Eventide Theatre Company in Dennis is an unusual version of that tragic story -- and their show is in some ways a premiere. More info.

Steve Junker and Kathi Scrizzi Driscoll discuss upcoming events every Wednesday on All Things Considered. Audio of this week's conversation is posted above - give it a listen.
