Carnival Week in Provincetown gets going this weekend.

Hot and muggy, right? What did you expect from mid-August? Here's your rundown of great events and activities happening around the region this weekend.

On Sunday, it’s the annual Citizens Bank Pops by the Sea concert, and the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, which sponsors that event, is going in a somewhat different direction this year: the guest conductor is going to be a bunch of blue guys.

There are certain toys that can be fun for all ages, and on Friday night, there’s a benefit night and competition that lets grown-ups use toys without the kids around. They're calling it a playdate for grown-ups, and it's at Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis

This is a big week for people who love antiques, with two annual shows happening - one this weekend in Orleans and one later in the week in Osterville.

It’s Carnival Week in Provincetown, and while that starts this weekend, some of the big events also stretch into next week.

Steve Junker and Kathi Scrizzi Driscoll discuss upcoming events every Wednesday during All Things Considered. Audio of this week's conversation is posted below - give it a listen.

Steve is Managing Editor of News. He came to WCAI in 2007. He also hosts the weekly News Roundup on Friday mornings and produces The Fishing News.
