Weekend Outlook: Shakespeare with Puppets, Santa, and a Celebration of Turnips

capecodtheaterproject.org
A puppet show not for small children - it's Shakespeare from the Cape Cod Theater Project this weekend.

Santa rides the railroad, Eastham celebrates turnips, and history comes alive in two different unusual theater productions. Here's a rundown of events to check out this weekend.

Know any kids eager to see Santa? He’s going to be showing up starting Friday when The Polar Express returns as a holiday ride for Cape Cod Central Railroad. More info.

As Wellfleet is known for its oysters, Eastham is known for its turnips. Led by the Eastham Public Library, the town celebrates that vegetable on Saturday. More info.

There are two unusual theater experiences happening this weekend. The first one in Harwichport, re-creates local history, in Pilgrims Progress: A Costumed Readers' Theater Production. More info.

The second unusual show tells English history, Shakespeare-style, in a way that combines human actors with puppets. It's from the Cape Cod Theater Company, performing at the Arts Center in Harwich. More info.

Steve Junker and Kathi Scrizzi Driscoll discusss upcoming events every Wednesday on All Things Considered. This week's conversation is posted below - give it a listen.
