Weekend Outlook: Chili, Mint Juleps, Music, and More

Cape Cod Times / Courtesy Roger McGuinn

The choices are vast and varied this weekend: taste some great chili, cool off with a mint julep, view local art, and listen to a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.  Here's your Weekend Outlook.

Saturday is May 5, which is Cinco de Mayo in Mexico, and there are two annual events that are taking advantage of that holiday. The first one is in Oak Bluffs. It's the Martha's Vineyard Big Chili Contest

Then two celebrations combine in Cotuit at the 5th Annual Kentucky Derby Gala: Cinco de Derby.

There will be an opening reception for a few different art exhibits on Friday evening at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in South Yarmouth, including for one group that is celebrating a big anniversary, theCape Cod Viewfinders Camera Club.

Fans of 1960s folk and rock will have a chance Saturday night to see RogerMcGuinn, who’s in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, sing at Cape Cod Community College.

Steve is Managing Editor of News. He came to WCAI in 2007. He also hosts the weekly News Roundup on Friday mornings and produces The Fishing News.
