Entergy Corp., the owner of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, announced this week that the plant will close by 2019.

WCAI News Director Sean Corcoran hosts a discussion about the top local news stories of the week. Joining him are George Brennan of the Cape Cod Times; Jim DeArruda at the New Bedford Standard-Times; Joshua Balling of the Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror; Tim Wood of the Cape Cod Chronicle; and Nelson Sigelman of the Martha's Vineyard Times.

Among the stories they discuss this week: The Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth will close, though many questions remain about its decommissioning; state Sen. Dan Wolf reportedly will not seek reelection; police have concluded their investigation into what happened when the Mashpee Schools Superintendent visited a student home unannounced; a judge is considering what should happen with tons of sand slated to be placed on Sandwich beachfront; Cape Cod's hospice and palliative care organization merges with a similar group in Rhode Island; Chatham shellfishermen enjoy high prices and a bountiful harvest; Wareham's harbormaster shuts down an oyster bed because of concerns of over fishing; Coast Guardsmen on Martha's Vineyard face obstacles finding year-round housing; two victories for open space on Nantucket; Provincetown's Public Schools building needs $7.5 million in upgrades, thought the state would reimburse half that amount; and wild turkeys are out and about, enjoying Falmouth's busy downtown.
