WCAI News Director Sean Corcoran hosts a discussion about the top local news stories of the week with area journalists. Joining Sean this week are Anne Brennan of the Cape Cod Times; Tim Wood of the Cape Cod Chronicle; Sara Brown of the Vineyard Gazette; Sam Houghton of the Mashpee Enterprise; Jim DeArruda of the New Bedford Standard Times; and Nelson Sigelman of the Martha's Vineyard Times.

Among the stories they discuss this week: a program designed to help kids remain calm is coming under fire with a School Committee members saying the program does not belong in the schools; a former worker at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station is in trouble for allegedly skipping hundreds of assigned fire watches at the plant; new guidelines are on the way to help doctors properly prescribe opioids; experts say the number of sharks in our area each summer may double; and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution will send underwater robots to survey the sunken ship El Faro.
