Eighty percent of adults with autism live at home once they “age out” of special education programs at age 22. That often means there is little opportunity for social involvement, and a lack of a clear plan for a future when parents can no longer care for them. Joining Mindy Todd in The Point studio to discuss the issues are guests Kathy Ohman, president of the group Friends Or Relatives With Autism & Related Disorders, or FORWARD, Dan Fortier, planner for town of Dennis, and Bob Jones of Cape Cod Village in Orleans.
