Lisa Genova Writes about Terrible Impact of Huntington's Disease

The Author Lisa Genova

LisaGenova's most recent book is Inside the O’Briens, which centers on a middle aged man diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease.  The author talks about the disease and its symptoms and about her writing process in this interview on The Point with Mindy Todd. Lisa Genova is a neuroscientist and bestselling author of the novels Love Anthony and Left Neglected. Her bestselling novel Still Alice about a woman with Alzheimer’s was recently made into a major motion picture with Julianne Moore winning an Oscar for her starring role in the film. Genova could be described as a novelist with a mission- not to entertain but to educate readers about neurological disorders. Huntington’s Disease has been called the cruelest disease- one has cognitive and physical impairments and often behavioral issues such as depression or obsessive-compulsive disorder. But on top of that one's children have a 50% chance of also developing the disease.
