Kip Thorne to Speak at Umass Dartmouth Today

Theoretical physicist Kip Thorne is the executive producer and science advisor for the 2014 film Interstellar. Black holes and gravity anomalies feature prominently in that film, and have been the subject of Kip Thorne’s research career.  He subsequently wrote a book about the science of Interstellar.

In 1984, Thorne co-founded the LIGO project that recently made headlines by detecting gravitational waves first theorized by Albert Einstein a century ago.

Kip Thorne will be discussing black holes and gravitational waves at Umass Dartmouth on Tuesday, March 29. There will be screenings of Interstellar at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM, with scientific presentations at 5 PM and 6 PM.
