The Intersection of Faith and Politics in an Election Year

lclibs.org

Many Americans believe religion is important in the political sphere. Should the religious beliefs and values of candidates for political office be part of the vetting process? Does faith have broad influence on policy in America? According to the PEW Research Center for Religion and PublicLife, most Americans have consistently said it is important to them that their President have strong religious beliefs, yet our country was founded on the separation of church and state. Joining us to discuss these and other nuances between faith and politics are the following religious leaders from our area: Bruce Epperly, Pastor at the United Church of Christ, Deborah Warner, Minister at the Church of the Messiah in Woods Hole, Caryn Broitman, Rabbi at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center, and Reverend Bob Barnett, Pastor at the Faith Community Church of Martha’s Vineyard. Sean Corcoran hosts the discussion.
