How to Succeed at Cape Cod Vacation Fishing (It Doesn't Have to Be Fancy)

Aug 12, 2016

With high summer on Cape Cod, we see plenty of people visiting who would like to enjoy a little fishing while they’re here, but may feel unsure how to get started. This week on the Fishing News we've got tips for vacation fishing, and how to make it a great experience.

Kevin Blinkoff, of On The Water magazine, reminds us that while Cape Cod has a reputation for being a place where you can catch big stripers and bluefish in the surf, in reality most of what you’ll encounter from shore right now is small stuff. But that's okay. Because what you really want from vacation fishing is to have fun and to catch something to put on the grill. The good news is, that's not too difficult, if you go about it the right way.

Listen to our conversation to find of just how simple it can be to have the right gear, the right bait, and put yourself in the right spot.

And don't forget: you need a saltwater fishing license. It's just $10 and you can buy one online in about 90 seconds, right here

Also, we round up the weekly fishing action, including reports of bonito at the hooter.  It's all in the audio posted below. Give it a listen.
