Cape Cod Symphony Captures the Intimacy of Handel’s Messiah

Jung-Ho Pak, artistic director and conductor of the Cape Cod Symphony, describes how he hopes to capture the original intimacy of Handel’s Messiah in  upcoming concerts. This version is faithful to the composer's original intentions: the orchestra and chorus are modestly-sized and perform in period-style, a lighter, more agile style of singing and playing. The orchestra also includes Baroque specialists who will actually perform with period instruments, which sound very different from their traditional counterparts: a more translucent, ethereal sound.
