British Warship Bombarded Falmouth 200 Years Ago

Painting by E.F. Lincoln, c/o The Falmouth Historical Society

It's the 200th anniversary of of the bombardment of Falmouth by the British ship HMS Nimrod, a man-of-war that patrolled New England waters during the War of 1812 in an effort to limit American shipping. Defiant Falmouth residents stood up against the heavily armed British Navy instead of simply paying a fee like many other Cape Cod towns. Mindy Todd talks with Tamsen George, Falmouth Historical Society's  president, on The Point.
